To cut the length of the rod to size. The brass tube is hollow and comes with a solid steel tube inside to stiffen and reinforce the rod once it has been fitted. Cut the reinforced brass tube to the required size, pull the steel tube out of the brass tube, cut it back by about 14mm and then put it back into the brass tube. This will leave a gap of around 7 mm on each side, which is needed to insert the end caps firmly. Remember to add pins and end pieces to your order.
